Woke around five and finally had some internet and found out my son Ulysses was supposed to leave on a plane to Brasil, so had to make some phone calls to see he was going on his first trip alone oversees. updated the blog and hopefully on our way to Tikal today, but it is drizzling, just enough to get wet!

The finca we were staying in was very basic, but very nice and it was actually cold last night in the Hilton, getting some home made bread for breakfast, so the day started out good for me.
Going Tikal

We left in drizzle rain, but pretty soon it stopped and an hour later we were in El Remate, where we checked in a nice hotel, left all the luggage there and an half hour later, we were heading for Tikal what was just 40 Km away, parked the bikes and started hiking to the pyramids. An hour later i noticed that I left my keys still in the moto and started to get worried, if I will ever see her back. Anyway we returned around five, tired from hiking and was glad I saw the bike again and went back to the hotel to get a few beers to celebrate that all went well today.
In the morning, we had an excellent breakfast at 7 am and we left the hotel around 9 am in overcast weather and were expecting rain or at the least drizzle,

We had some small mechanical problems, but fixed it all and took off for San Pedro Sula, the industrial capital of Honduras and traffic was outrageous and were inhaling plenty of exhaust smoke from worn out trucks. Passing through the outside of the city, pretty soon drove through Choloma were we fueled up and short after that we hit drizzle, just enough to get wet and passed Puerto Cortez on our way to the Guatemala border. Had lunch just before the border and past the border without complications and before we realized, we were on our way to El Peten province in the North of Guatemala, where the Maya ruins are, with the most famous one called . About an hour before we hit more rain again and decided to stay in Poptun, where a Finca was located, I had been to in the past and arrived around 5 pm, so just in time to for happy hour!
The place is full with backpackers and ego orientated people.
Chris had to fix his carburetor, which was stalling out, Scotty was short on beer vitamins and I had to figure out this blog with a very slow internet connection. Dinner is served at 7 and hope to be finished with the blog before that.
Today the third bike trip is on and this time it is 3 of us, Scotty, Chris and Ronald. Chris on a Suzuki DR 650 and Scotty and Ronald on a Kawasaki KLR 650. Chris motorcycle was already in La Ceiba, so we will meet up with him later today and we are putting ours on the freight boat the "Tonia C" this morning

around 12:30 pm and we were leaving in a Northeaster to get to the mainland. The trip over was pretty rough and 3 hours later around 3:20 pm we met up with Chris in La Ceiba and after clearing the bikes in the port we were on our way out of La Ceiba and soon were on our way to Tela, which is a 100 km away on a pretty decent highway and just before dark ended up in Hotel May Vista, which is located on a hill overlooking the ocean. We know the owner from our last trip and he treated us very good and had a nice dinner, where we discussed the plans for the next few days.
After Google could not recover my account, I lost my last blog, I spend so much time on the last 12 months and decided to make a new blog. It took me a week to get it up running and put the blog on line while I was working on it, to see if all links, pictures, video's & post were in the correct place. So probably in the near feature, I make some more changes and then the idea is we going on a trip again in January 2012 to South America. Our last two trips, one in the interior of Honduras in January 2011, I saved all the postings done and transferred it to this new blog, the other trip, last June 2011 to Panama, I lost everything except the pictures and the road traveled, so I am trying to remember the stories as well as the timeline and add it slowly to this blog, I guess this time I will save the blog by exporting everything!
In this new blog, http://www.utilamoto.blogspot.com, I uploaded some video's as well, which were not on the old one,
Left Tela in the morning to get to La Ceiba, which is about an hour and a half away.
Scotty had to do some banking in La Ceiba, washed our bikes and brought the bikes to the Utila Express on Friday and we took the Utila Princess ferry home.
